New Andor poster drops in the 3-week lead-up to the premiere
By Meg Dowell
Cassian Andor is preparing to make his grand return, and a new poster advertising the series has Star Wars fans more excited than ever to finally see the series for the first time.
Star Wars: Andor was supposed to drop on August 31 before the show was delayed until September. A poster instead of a show isn’t the greatest tradeoff, but at this point, we’ll take what we can get.
The series will begin about five years before the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, presumably when Cassian is in much earlier stages of trying to take down the Empire from the inside out. According to series showrunner Tony Gilroy, it will end very close to where the movie begins.
In those five years, we’ll see Cassian survive many different circumstances as he navigates the life of a spy rebelling against the Imperial regime. But he’s not the only major character the story will focus on.
Mon Mothma will also play a major role in Andor, as a large portion of the story will follow her life as a senator secretly forming the Rebel Alliance. This will be the first time Genevieve O’Reilly’s character will feature prominently in live-action Star Wars. Her Revenge of the Sith scenes remain in the deleted scenes category, and even her role in Rebels was limited.
The series will combine thrill with adventure — and possibly a small bit of romance? — as it introduces viewers to a dark, critical time in Star Wars history. The Empire is in control of almost everything, and the hopeless feel helpless. But not forever. Only for now.
Star Wars: Andor will premiere its first three episodes exclusively on Disney+ September 21.
