For Light and Life! Fans of the High Republic are about to get a new cast of characters to fall in love with while making prayer circles to keep Cavan Scott away from killing their favorites.

Back at Celebration 2022, Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures was announced as a new series in development for Disney+ and Disney Junior. Then this past weekend at D23 Expo, we got our first details about the cast as well as a first look at the art during the Disney Branded Television panel.

As reported by Collider, it was announced that Jamaal Avery Jr. (Abbott Elementary) and Emma Berman (Luca) were to play the lead roles. Jamaal will portray Jedi Youngling Kai Brightstar who teams up with Emma’s pilot character, Nash Durango, to learn important life lessons that every Jedi should know. StarWars.com says about the series, “The Jedi-in-training will tackle topics of compassion, self-discipline, teamwork, patience, and friendship.” Also, Yoda’s in the artwork as well, so he will more than likely be the main mentor character for the crew.

Also as reported by POC Culture, who attended the panel, the blue bear-like person in the official artwork is also a new Force sensitive species. His name is Nubs, and if I can say, he is such a little cutie!

Some of the crew members who worked on Young Jedi Adventures shared artwork to celebrate the announcement too.

As a fan of both animation and The High Republic, I am super excited for this series. Personally, I hope to see Ragald Coll show up at some point. He was a youngling creche leader and teacher who was in The High Republic: The Fallen Star. Young Jedi Adventures just feels like a story made for the pun-filled sass master.

Having series for young viewers is important. While Star Wars is for everyone, not all Star Wars is made for everyone and that’s okay. My Star Wars-loving four-year-old nephew won’t be watching Andor anytime soon. I’m glad he is going to have a show for him.
