Star Wars fans have waited years for Andor to premiere, and the wait is officially over.
Even though the show’s premiere was pushed back to September after originally being scheduled for the end of August 2022, Disney+ tried to make up for this by dropping not one, not two, but three full episodes on the first day of the series.
We’re not complaining, though. Reviews are pouring in, and it seems the series will be quite unlike any other Star Wars live-action Disney+ release so far. Don’t worry! We’ll be dropping our reviews right here when the first episodes finally release!
Andor is the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story prequel series no one saw coming. It very well may change the future of Star Wars — in a good way.
Best of all, Genevieve O’Reilly’s Mon Mothma will finally get the spotlight she deserves after being cut from Revenge of the Sith in 2005. Much of the series will involve her sneaky work as the leader of a rebellion against the very government she’s claiming to represent. We know how that journey ends. But we don’t know all that leads up to that point.
This is what prequel stories are for, after all — and why they’re so key to Star Wars storytelling. There’s a lot to unpack not from the destination, but instead from the journey toward victory.
