WARNING: This article contains minor spoilers from Andor Episode 7.

Ord Mantell was one of the worlds mentioned by the Imperial Security Bureau in the latest episode of Andor. This planet was one that we have seen quite a bit of in animation like Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and it also appeared in several different other forms of canon as well. Few know that the world was actually introduced in Rebel Mission to Ord Mantell back in 1983 on a cassette tape, and has continued appearances in Star Wars canon since then. But is this just a neat Easter Egg or will Andor introduce this planet to live action?

What is important about Ord Mantell?

Ord Mantell is a planet located in the Mid-Rim, and while it once was a strategically important planet to the Republic, but by the time of the Clone Wars it had become something quite different. The large industrial facilities and strategic position that was just far enough away from Coruscant. The planet was then used by the Black Sun. Following Maul’s takeover of the Black Sun and the formation of the Shadow Collective, this world was to become a battleground for the Republic in their fight against the Separatist and Shadow Collective Elements.

We have also already seen this beautiful world while the Bad Batch was sent to retrieve Muchi, a young female rancor. Because of this previous showing, we actually have seen quite a bit of this planet, but it has not yet been introduced into live-action.

Will we see it in Andor?

Despite all the things going for Ord Mantell, it will most likely remain a neat easter egg planted for us. If we were to assume that this isn’t just an easter egg, Ord Mantell would be an interesting planet for Cassian to run to. It has an active criminal underground, it is well known to underworld contacts such as Cid, and a strategic location. This underground connection to the criminal organization may be just what the budding rebellion needs to evade Imperial Security, and with the young rebellion a bit light on morales, it is an easy place to look.
