So far, the first season of Andor has surprised and amazed many viewers with its tone, pacing, and depth. While the writing and acting that goes into making the show shine is essential to its success, the directors behind the camera also work hard to make the series come alive on our small screens. Next season will feature a new set of directors, according to the series creator.

Collider recently spoke with series showrunner Tony Gilroy, who provided more information about the second season of the series despite its first season finale still being weeks away. He spoke more about how the show will be both similar and different in Season 2 than it has in its premiere season.

He first confirmed that, just as Season 1 has, Season 2 will be broken up into episode arcs that will tell smaller stories within the show’s larger narrative. While shows like The Mandalorian have largely operated on an episode-by-episode story structure, with different directors rotating with each one, Andor‘s slightly longer season allows for directors to take on not just one or two episodes, but instead an entire story arc to really bring things to life.

Speaking of directors, Gilroy also shared that next season’s lineup will include Ariel Kleiman, Janus Metz, and Alonso Ruizpalacios.

There are three episodes left in Andor Season 1, and it’s unclear exactly where the show’s major players will end up by the closing moments of the finale. Cassian remains in prison, but how long until he’s somehow able to escape — and who might survive along with him? Dedra and Syril are butting heads, Bix is in a bad spot, and Mon Mothma may about to be in some serious trouble.

Maybe it’s a good thing we have another whole season to wrap everything up after this.
