Andor season 1, episode 11 recap: The saddest one yet
By Meg Dowell
WARNING: The following contains SPOILERS for Andor Season 1, Episode 11.
Cassian and Melchi may have successfully escaped the water-surrounded prison on Narkina 5, but they still need to find a way off the planet. Stealing a ship seemed like a great idea, until the land’s native species catches them off guard … in a net. They’re stuck.
Until the Narkinans realize that taking them off-planet would defy the Empire, whose prison poisoned their water supply. So Cassian gets his money and, therefore, a way to wherever he might go next. He just has to make a quick phone call first, to tell his mom he loves her.
Which is … unfortunate, since it’s revealed Maarva has died. B2EMO, always the best Star Wars dog I mean droid, refuses to leave the house just in case she comes back. If you didn’t cry here, I have some questions for you.
The Imperials are desperately hoping Cassian will show up to Ferrix for the funeral. They’re waiting, and watching. Just in case.
On Coruscant, Vel stops by Luthen’s shop to tell Kleya (who definitely shouldn’t be trusted) about Cassian’s mother’s death. She then visits Mon Mothma, who observes that her daughter’s recent fascination with the religious customs of Chandrila may lead her to seek a husband.
Maybe that offer from last week isn’t such a bad idea after all.
Syril also learns of the death of Maarva, and steals some of his mother’s money so he can go to Ferrix. Dude, seriously?
Also, Luthen and Saw meet again, with Luthen finally convincing him that protecting his mole is more important than protecting their shared ally. He gets into a rough space battle shortly thereafter, but he’s smarter than the Empire and gets away.
Cassian learns of Maarva’s death, and realizes he has lost the person he was fighting for.
Things couldn’t possibly get worse … right?
