Now that the dust has settled on the first season of the latest live action Star Wars series Andorattention has already turned to the second season of the show. Before the first episode of the show’s first season had aired, it was announced Andor would have two seasons, with the 24 episodes leading up to the events of Rogue One.

Some details about the show’s second season have already been revealed by its cast and crew. Kyle Soller who plays Syril Karn recently said that the shows second season will be “turning it up to 11” adding “there’s more people, more planets, more worlds.”

One of those new worlds that could be appearing in season 2 of ‘Andor’ is Dantooine. But why might fans have heard of Dantooine before and why does it make sense for it to appear in ‘Andor’.

Dantooine was first mentioned by Princess Leia Organa in the first Star Wars movie to be released, ‘A New Hope’. Leia gave up Dantooine to Grand Moff Tarkin as the location of a rebel base in what proved to be a fruitless effort to stop Tarkin from destroying her home world, Alderaan, with the Death Star.

But why would Dantooine appearing in Andor’s second season make sense? When Princess Leia gave up Dantooine in ‘A New Hope’ it had been abandoned, but prior to that it was actually the location of the first rebel base.

We know that in 2 BBY, Mon Mothma, who is portrayed by Genevieve O’Reilly in ‘Andor’, will rally and unify the rebellion into the Rebel Alliance with a speech above the planet and the rebel fleet will later converge above it.

Given the prominent role that Mon Mothma played In the shows first season, it is not out of the question that we could see how this first meeting of the Rebel Alliance occurred from her point of view.

In addition to this, we know that Yavin 4 will appear in ‘Andor’ Season 2. This is important as Yavin 4 was the location of the rebel base featured in ‘Rogue One’ and ‘A New Hope’ and was the Rebel Alliance’s headquarters following the abandonment of Dantooine.

We saw in one of ‘Andor’ season 1’s final scenes that Cassian Andor had finally understood the importance of the rebellion and that he was willing to put his life on the line for their cause.

Given his newfound commitment, Cassian (along with characters like Mon Mothma and Luthen Rael) could be one of the key players in setting up the rebel base on Dantooine as well as its eventual abandonment and the Rebel Alliance Headquarters’ move to Yavin 4.
