Fans received their first look at The Acolyte earlier this year when Star Wars shared an official cast announcement, alongside a set photo featuring leads Amandla Stenberg and Lee Jung-jae accompanied by show-runner Lesley Headland.

Now, Daily Mail has released some grainy set photos from the filming of the show, giving us a glimpse at some new characters in heavy makeup, as well as Lee Jung-jae in costume as a High Republic Jedi Master. This is a landmark photo for High Republic fans, as it’s the first-ever donning of the era’s signature gold-and-white robes for a live-action production.

Fans of the High Republic novels and comics will be happy to see another Wookiee Jedi character joining the era… or could this be one we’re already familiar with? As we know, Wookiees can live for several hundreds of years. The fate of fan-favorite Burryaga Agaburry is still unknown following the events of the Phase I novels, but there’s a chance that this lumbering Wookiee is the very same. Regardless, his stylish top-knot and satchel already land him a spot on my favorites list.

We were also treated to this picture of Game of Thrones alum Dean Charles-Chapman looking ever-so endearing as a Jedi padawan. The signature braid and meek posture tell us plenty about his character, and I’m already feeling extremely defensive of him. Someone pinch this boy’s cheek, immediately.

Daily Mail and other sources on Twitter claim that the next image is Daphne Keen. In my opinion, the actress’s makeup and wig make it hard to be certain. Regardless, this character and her bow look formidable.

Lastly, we have a female Zabrak in witchy-looking attire. The current High Republic novels are setting a precedent by introducing many alternative Force-sects including the Path of the Open Hand, and expanding on Rogue One’s Guardians of the Whills. Perhaps this character will be involved with a similar mystical group.

Next. Maybe there IS such a thing as too much Star Wars. dark
