RUMOR: Next Star Wars movie to start filming soon
If you can believe it, there actually hasn’t been a theatrical release of any Star Wars film since the premiere of Rise of Skywalkerback in December of 2019. Many ideas have been put into play, but none of them have seen the light of day.
That statement might be changing soon…the next Star Wars film, which has a release expected sometime in 2025, is set to start production and other sorts of preparations much sooner than expected, according to the latest rumors.
Could that mean an earlier release date too?
Let’s take a look at what’s going on with Star Wars’ next 2025 film production!
There have been some recent reports coming out of Bespin Bulletin that have revealed a potential earlier start date to not only production but to filming in general as well. According to their report, pre-production could start as soon as April or May of next year.
Here’s just a bit more about what they had to say about it:
"“…beginning construction on a Star Wars movie around April or May…might actually be a good sign for the Taika Waititi project…And if it does happen, around April or May, they will start making sets…”"
As we’ve talked about in a previous piece, the next Star Wars film that would’ve been released before this would’ve been Patty Jenkins’ Rogue Squadron on the 22nd of this month (Dec, 2022). That project was reportedly scrapped for good, so who knows when or if we’ll ever see it anymore.

The Waititi film was once said to be starting filming and production in 2023, but there have been no official updates on such a thing, so who knows about that at this given point in time. Especially because according to their ‘official’ schedule, nothing was scheduled to land in theaters until 2025.
Who knows? Maybe just maybe if filming starts up early with this one, we’ll get some sort of ‘mystery’ Star Wars something to satisfy our deep cravings for something new!
