Ahsoka officially joins the 2023 Disney+ lineup in new streaming trailer
By Meg Dowell
We have our first look at Ahsoka Tano in her self-titled live-action series, Star Wars: Ahsoka, thanks to the 2023 streaming trailer for Disney+.
The trailer showed off highlights for its upcoming 2023 shows, including a new season of Loki and a handful of new series set to make their debut. But Star Wars also earned multiple highlights, including one of the most anticipated new series for 2023 set in a galaxy far, far away.
Darksaber-wielding Mandalorian Din Djarin (and Grogu) also make an appearance in the trailer, since Season 3 of The Mandalorian is officially releasing on Disney+ March 1, 2023. And of course, Clone Force 99 also gets a brief shoutout — it will be the first Star Wars series to drop on the platform in 2023 on January 4.
It’s going to be an exciting year for Star Wars TV. Season 2 of Star Wars Visions is also on the way this spring. Both The Bad Batch and The Mandalorian will premiere new seasons of their shows, and though it isn’t officially in the lineup yet, it’s possible the new animated show Skeleton Crew could also land on the platform in 2023.
But Ahsoka could be happening sooner than we think — and since its official announcement in 2020, Star Wars fans have been waiting (not all of them patiently) for the show to finally come to fruition.
The Ahsoka series remains mostly a mystery at this point, especially in terms of plot and where the show will take place in the Star Wars timeline. But most speculation revolves around the idea that the story will focus on Ahsoka and Sabine’s search for Grand Admiral Thrawn, thanks to Ahsoka’s appearance in Season 1 of The Mandalorian.
The trailer didn’t offer an official release date for the series, but as soon as we hear otherwise, we’ll let you know.
Star Wars: Ahsoka is set to debut sometime in 2023 exclusively on Disney+.
