One of the most renowned and influential makeup artists in the world has a new Star Wars collection. The new Star Wars x Pat McGrath Labs collaboration celebrates the colors, characters, and textures of the original trilogy of films.
The new Star Wars x Pat McGrath Labs collection launched last week, three years after the beauty icon created her first makeup set themed after a galaxy far, far away. For longtime Star Wars fan McGrath, it made sense to keep celebrating the original trilogy for A New Hope’s 45th anniversary this year.
“The original trilogy is what started it all for me, it’s how my love of Star Wars and the fantasy genre really began,” she told Star Wars.com. “So I just had to revisit the original trilogy for this collection.”
To create the collection, McGrath said she worked closely with Lucasfilm, including checking out some of the Star Wars archives to match and complement colors and textures from the films. And, of course, she said she did a few movie marathons in order to “revisit these iconic characters and think about them through a different lens.”
There are dozens of sets in this new collection of beauty products – from eyeshadow palettes and colorful mascaras to lip gloss. There are also customizable sets, all featuring colors, textures, and art directly inspired by the original trilogy of Star Wars films.
Eyeshadow palettes include The Golden One themed after C-3PO with colors named Binary Sunset, Tatooine, Gold Etiquette, Coral Blitz, and Cybor Relations; Sith Seduction themed after Darth Vader with metallic tones named Imperial, Dark Destiny, Mustafar Heat, Galactic Conquest, and Force Sensitive; and an R2-D2-themed one called Divine Droid with colors Astro Lime, Bronze Circuit, Secret Blueprint, Optic Fuchsia, and Ultraviolet Messenger.
“As I was dreaming up this collection, the richness of colors, textures, and the use of light and metallics were all top of mind. This is what fueled the first round of inspiration, but then I would add more based on the characters’ personalities or storylines that felt evocative to me,” she said to StarWars.com.
The packaging for the products is also stunning, with gilded edges, bright metallics and jewel tones, and dynamic art of characters like the famous droid duo and Darth Vader.
Being as popular a beauty brand as Pat McGrath Labs, many of the most popular new sets are sold out. But fans can still get their hands on a few individual eye shadow palettes, mascaras, lip glosses, and smaller sets.
