The long-awaited sequel to Jedi: Fallen OrderJedi: Survivor—had its trailer debut at The Game Awards this week. With the new action-adventure releasing in March, players may be needing a refresher on what happened in Jedi: Fallen Order.

Fallen Order, which released in November 2019, told the story of the Order 66 survivor, Cal Kestis. Cal was only a young padawan at the time of the Purge. In the approximately 5 years since that point, he had done his best to lay low and stay out of trouble. At the start of the game, Cal is working as a scrapper on the planet Bracca. While working on a derelict ship, an accident occurs and Cal is pushed to use the Force in order to save his friend. However, this calls the attention of the Inquisitors and starts Cal’s adventure.

Cal is put in an unlikely alliance with the crew of the Mantis, comprised of former Jedi Cere Junda and pilot Greez. Cere takes Cal to the planet Bogono, where he befriends his droid companion BD-1 and is tasked with opening a vault built by the ancient Zeffo race. Once inside, he learns of the plan of Cere’s former master Eno Cordova.

Cordova held onto a list of Force sensitive children, which Cere believes could be used to restore the Jedi Order. However, to find the holocron containing the list, the crew would have to retrace the steps of Cordova as he studied the Zeffo and their influence on the galaxy.

First, Cal heads to the wookiee planet Kashyyyk. While there, he assists Saw Gerrera in fighting back against the Imperial presence. However, he hits a dead end in his search and heads to Zeffo. While there, he is faced again by the Second Sister (our main antagonist of the game). She reveals that before becoming an Inquisitor, her name was Trilla and she was the apprentice to Cere Junda. Shortly thereafter, Cal returns to Kashyyyk where he meets with Tarfful and is sent to climb the Origin Tree. When he reaches the top, he finds the next stop of his journey will be on Dathomir.

When Cal arrives on the Nightsister homeworld, he is met by Merrin, one of the last of her kind. Merrin blames the Jedi Order for the massacre of her people during the Clone Wars. As Cal traverses deeper into Dathomir, he meets Taron Malicos. Malicos is a fallen Jedi who crashed on Dathomir, and has succumbed to the dark side of the Force. He attempts to turn Cal to his side, but Cal eventually defeats him with the help of Merrin. Cal leaves Dathomir with the ability to fully open the vault on Bogano, and Merrin joins the crew of the Mantis.

Cal manages to recover the holocron, but it is quickly stolen by Trilla and she escapes to Fortress Inquisitorius. The Mantis crew chases after her and Cal is able to break into the Fortress. After defeating Trilla in a duel, he attempts to guide her towards redemption, but Darth Vader swoops in and strikes her down. Cal stands no match for Vader, but is narrowly able to escape with the help of Cere.

The Mantis crew manages to get away from the Empire, with the holocron in their possession. However, Cal learned over the course of his journey that the existence of the list was too dangerous. He ends up destroying it in order to protect the Force sensitive beings across the galaxy.

Hopefully this has given you everything you need to know in order to be ready for Jedi: Survivor when it drops on March 17, 2023.
