While there are no currently no confirmed plans for a second season of The Book of Boba Fett, Boba and his partner-in-crime Fennec Shand could still appear in a variety of Star Wars television series in 2023. Which 2023 shows could they appear in?
The Bad Batch
Season 2 of The Bad Batch is already off to a strong start and is the first series that could feature Boba or Fennec this year. Fennec already made her Star Wars animation debut in The Bad Batch‘s first season. Fennec was hired by the Kaminoan scientist Nala Se to find and bring in Omega as Nala Se wanted to protect her. Fennec failed to apprehend Omega on Pantora and on Bora Vio, but she did save Omega from being captured by the bounty hunter Cad Bane who would’ve brought Omega back to Lama Su and the Empire.
Given her history with and knowledge of Omega and the rest of the Bad Batch, Fennec could easily show up in season 2. The fondness Fennec seemed to develop for Omega–and the fact that she was paid for keeping Omega out of Cad Bane’s hands–means she probably wouldn’t take a job hunting down Omega or the rest of the Batch, but it’s important to remember that Fennec is still a bounty hunter and assassin.
She could also work alongside Omega and the Batch for a job. It would make for an interesting dynamic given how Omega has matured since she last encountered Fennec and the rest of the Batch would definitely be wary of the bounty hunter and assassin.
As for Boba, he is Omega’s brother, with the two of them being the only genetically unaltered clones of Jango Fett. It would be fascinating to see Omega meet with and interact with him, especially since they have very different moral perspectives at this point.
It would also be interesting to see a young Boba before he has the reputation as the best bounty hunter in the galaxy. Boba is a perfect fit for a series exploring what becomes of the clones and how the galaxy treats them after the Clone Wars.
The Bad Batch seems like a natural series for Boba or Fennec to appear in this year, but it isn’t the only option.
The Mandalorian, Ahsoka, & Skeleton Crew
All of the live-action Star Wars series releasing in 2023 are part of the “Mandoverse” that takes place several years after Return of the Jedi. Fennec Shand was introduced in season 1 of The Mandalorian and it was season 2 that revealed Boba Fett survived the events of Return of the Jedi. Season 2 established their partnership and set up The Book of Boba Fett, which expanded the “Mandoverse” beyond The Mandalorian.
With Din Djarin, Grogu, Ahsoka Tano, Luke Skywalker, and many others appearing in The Book of Boba Fett (and even becoming the focus of the series instead of Boba for 2 episodes), fans got a better understanding of how interconnected these “Mandoverse” shows can be, making it all the more likely that Boba or Fennec will be incorporated into some of the other shows.
The Mandalorian season 3 seems like the most likely place for Boba or Fennec to appear. They’ve worked closely with Din on several occasions now and Din and Boba have become close with each other.
The trailer for The Mandalorian season 3 also shows Din returning to Tatooine where he meets with Peli Motto (who can be seen holding Grogu) and R5-D4, with the droid being shown in Din’s modified N-1 starfighter later in the trailer. If Din and Grogu are on Tatooine, it seems likely they will meet with Boba and Fennec as they rule and oversee Mos Espa.
Ahsoka seems less likely since neither Boba nor Fennec have history with her specifically and there is no known reason for them to be involved with the search for Ezra Bridger. Yet, it’s still possible for Boba and Fennec to be in this series or in Skeleton Crew simply because they’re taking place in the same time period and are part of the interconnected “Mandoverse.”
Visions
It would be unexpected for Boba or Fennec to appear in the second season of Star Wars: Visions, but it is possible, especially since Boba already appeared in the “Tatooine Rhapsody” episode in season 1.
With Visions not being canon, the creators don’t need to worry about contradicting existing or future stories. Most of the season 2 episodes will probably focus on new characters like season 1 did, but there’s always a possibility of brining in established characters such as Boba or Fennec.
It will be exciting if Boba Fett or Fennec Shand appear in a Star Wars television series in 2023, but even if they don’t, it is going to be a great year for Star Wars television.
