Fans looking for a little more Dark Side in their comic book life don’t have to fear – or do they – as Marvel sets their sights on a very dark Lord. After previously releasing the “Black, White & Blood” series, featuring Wolverine, Moon Knight and several other characters, Marvel’s Star Wars: Darth Vader – Black, White & Red has been announced and they’re bringing back writer Jason Aaron to the Star Wars galaxy.

After writing the “Star Wars flagship comic series in 2015 and the Sith-centered Vader Down the following year,” it appears Aaron’s time with the Dark Lord left a long-lasting impression. Not only did Vader Down include one of his favorite lines as a writer, getting back into Star Wars was an opportunity he could not turn away from.

What can fans expect from Star Wars: Darth Vader – Black, White & Red?

The lore of Star Wars is quite expansive, but this comic book series will be self-contained within a four-part story. This length might make Star Wars: Darth Vader – Black, White & Red even more approachable for fans who are not familiar with any of the previous Star Wars comic book series. On top of that, fans will get an experienced writer who looks to expand upon his already storied history with the Sith Lord.

"“I loved getting to let Darth Vader cut loose with all his power in such an epic way. I couldn’t pass up the chance to revel in the dark side again and put Vader in an even more perilous situation… and then see how he carves his way out.”"

Aaron hopes to place Darth Vader in volatile situations and fans will get to bask in the “power of the Dark Side.” This Star Wars: Darth Vader series will also include other creators who are equally excited to bask in the presence of Vader and all of his evil glory. The comic book series will include several authors, interior and cover artists during its four-part run, including cover art by Alex Maleev (Eisner Award for Best Continuing Series).

Peach Momoko (Eisner Award winner for Best Cover Artist) is writing one of the series’ three tales and making “her debut as an interior artist for a Star Wars comic.” Writer Torunn Gronbekk (Thor, Punisher War Journal, Warhammer 40,000) will be making her debut in Star Wars and her enthusiasm for the wicked cannot be understated.

Gronbekk tells StarWars.com, “It’s been a joy to create a story that not only gives you a glimpse of the gritty reality of the Star Wars universe but also showcases Vader at his most cunning and violent.” The series also features art by Leonard Kirk (Sabretooth, Black Panther, Captain America), who is equally thrilled to dive into a character at “his Sithiest, nastiest, most vile and violent.”

Fans looking for Darth Vader at his “finest” might just find it within the pages crafted from these creators. Star Wars: Darth Vader – Black, White & Red, issue 1, will go on sale April 26.
