Record-breaking viewership recorded for The Mandalorian Season 3 trailer
The latest trailer for The Mandalorian Season 3 is breaking records — as it should be.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the trailer for The Mandalorian Season 3 which premiered on January 16th, during the ESPN Monday Night Football game between the Dallas Cowboys and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, garnered a colossal number of views within its first 24 hours. The Mandalorian Season 3 trailer was viewed 83.5 Million times, completely blowing away the previous record for the highest views on a Disney+ Star Wars series, set by Obi Wan Kenobi, which had around 58 million views. That’s a difference of over 25.5 million views.
Based on these numbers it seems more than a little likely than The Mandalorian will continue to be a juggernaut once it premieres and top streaming charts once again for Disney+. Its numbers have yet to be crossed by any of the other Star Wars live action series.
The Mandalorian Season 3 will mark the live action debut of Mandalore, as Din Djarin travels to the Mandalorian home world after being reunited with Grogu in The Book of Boba Fett. Grogu chose to return to Din Djarin after being given the choice to continue training as a Jedi or to return to Din by Luke Skywalker. The trailer shows the pair together, traveling through different planets as Din Djarin meets more Mandalorians, and some familiar friends like Greef Karga and Peli Motto. Bo Katan Kryze is absent from this latest trailer, and so is any mention of the Darksaber, the weapon Din Djarin is in possession of, thus qualifying him as the rightful ruler of Mandalore. It remains to be seen if he will indeed rule over the planet, or if Bo Katan will win back the Darksaber in any potential duel.
The Mandalorian Season 3 premieres March 1st on Disney+.
