WARNING: The following contains SPOILERS for The Bad Batch Season 2, Episode 5: “Entombed.”

Though we only saw her briefly in a previous episode of The Bad Batch, Wanda Sykes’ character is back — and this week, she’s the star of the show.

Skyes, who has brought her acting talents to countless shows and movies throughout her career, joins Star Wars as the voice of Phee Genoa. Phee is a pirate archeologist, though she likes to instead think of herself as a treasure hunter. She’s a little bit like Indiana Jones meets Doctor Aphra. Maybe she knows Hondo? Who doesn’t, really?

After Omega finds a compass in a junkyard, Phee convinces Clone Force 99 to travel to an uncharted world using the compass’s coordinates. Legend has it there’s a treasure hidden there worth a whole bunch of money.

Phee is a lot of things, but she’s especially fond of telling stories. For most of the episode, Hunter is convinced she’s making up the treasure and its value. But the team dodges obstacles and certain death to reach what they’ve come for — and though it’s exactly what Phee said it would be, even she quickly realizes it’s so much more than she bargained for.

Though it would have been entertaining to have a character like Hondo or Doctor Aphra (she wouldn’t quite fit in this particular time period, but still) in this role, Skyes was perfectly cast as someone out for themselves who wasn’t going to let anything — not even dangerous relic-powered entities — stand in her way.

She got what she wanted in the end, and only one droid had to die to get there. In her eyes, that’s good enough.\

New episodes of The Bad Batch stream Wednesdays exclusively on Disney+.
