Emilia Clarke has made her rounds in the sci-fi/fantasy TV circuit, even hitting some of the biggest franchises out there. From Star Wars to Game of Thrones and soon the Marvel Cinematic Universe, she’s all but proven she can nail any role she snags.
She made Qi’ra’s character truly unforgettable on-screen in the one Star Wars film she appeared in — so much so that fans have been begging for her return ever since. It turns out they aren’t the only ones who wouldn’t say no to that.
In an interview with IndieWire, Clarke said she has plenty of ideas about what could happen next for her character. But no one at Lucasfilm has reached out to offer her a chance to return yet.
“She’s the one that has the most unfinished business,” the actor said. “I really had pages about what her life was and what it would be afterwards. But I’m afraid I’ve heard nothing of being the case, so maybe I’ll just write it and send it to them. I’ll be like, ‘Hey guys, I’ve got a few ideas.”
Even if Clarke doesn’t end up returning as Qi’ra — on the big screen or otherwise — there have been plenty of developments in the character’s story since Solo released in 2018. You may already know of them if you follow the comics.
Qi’ra made a surprise appearance in War of the Bounty Hunters, and starred in her own spinoff miniseries Crimson Reign shortly after that. This trilogy of sorts will conclude with the Hidden Empire miniseries, which began in late October 22 and is currently ongoing.
Will Emilia Clarke ever return to Star Wars? The actor may not appear again, but her character still has a lot of backstory to uncover in future projects.
