The Bad Batch season 2 episode 3 recap: Crosshair returns

WARNING: The following contains SPOILERS for The Bad Batch Season 2, Episode 3: “The Solitary Clone.”

On the former Separatist planet Desix, the planned Imperial takeover isn’t going well. Governor Ames, refusing to comply with orders she relinquish her leading role over the planet, summons her army of battle droids and captures the officers trying to take away her world.

The Empire is going to need reinforcements.

Let’s return to Coruscant for a moment, where Crosshair has just been cleared to return to duty after being stranded on Kamino for over a month. He, along with Commander Cody, are assigned to free the Imperial officers from Desix. Rampart seems to think they’ll be a good pair. He’s not going to like the results.

Landing on Desix, Crosshair, Cody, and the other troopers blast their way through the battle droids nd make their way to where the officer is being held. All Ames wants is for the Empire to leave her world, alone, and she’ll do anything to get what she wants — no matter what or whom she’s up against.

Cody and Crosshair finally reach Ames and the officer. The Imperial officer orders Cody to kill Ames, but he — already beginning to question the Empire’s true motives — hesitates. Crosshair doesn’t, obeying the order instantly with one pull of the trigger.

Back on Coruscant, when Cody asks Crosshair if they’re doing the right thing, Crosshair simply responds that his only job is to follow orders.

Rampart assigns Crosshair another mission, but under the command of someone new.

Cody has gone AWOL (has he, though?). Crosshair has been assigned to a new commander … and he doesn’t seem to be planning his exit from the Empire anytime soon.
