WARNING: The following contains SPOILERS for The Bad Batch Season 2, Episode 4: “Faster.”
Cid has a few new missions for the crew — and they’ll be splitting up into teams this episode. While Hunter and Echo are sent off to deliver a shipment of nerf nuggets, Cid needs Wrecker, Tech, and Omega to help her out on a more personal outing.
Her racer, a sassy droid named TAY-0, is in it to win it in the latest Riot Racing match. (It’s a lot like podracing, but somehow more dangerous.) Millegi, this episode’s antagonist, doesn’t want Cid to win or earn the money she needs. The Batch might have to do something about that.
When Millegi’s racer cheats to win the race against TAY-0, Omega bets everything in another race. Now Cid is going to be in huge trouble if her racer loses … even more so than before.
New problem: TAY-0 gets destroyed before the big race can begin! Despite his hesitation due to the fact that the outcomes of Riot Racing are completely unpredictable no matter how many calculations are made, Tech volunteers to pilot the racer.
Using his skills to his advantage, Tech manages to beat the major odds against him and win the race, lifting Cid (mostly) out of immediate danger.
Millegi begrudgingly accepts that he has to let Cid go free — a bet is a bet, after all. But before Wrecker, Omega, and Tech can follow her out the door, he warns the group that Cid can’t be trusted. Her loyalties won’t always lie in their favor, and putting all their faith in her could get them into trouble.
I’m sure that won’t come back to bite them later in the season at all. Definitely not. Everything is and will remain completely fine!
