Now that Din Djarin has the Darksaber, it’s about time he learns how to use it properly. While he’s a skilled fighter, his session with The Armorer in The Book of Boba Fett showed that he has a ways to go before mastering this Mandalorian Jedi weapon.
So, who are some friends and potential friends of Din’s who could be of some assistance? Let’s have a look:
1. Sabine Wren
Who better to teach Din Djarin on how to wield the Darksaber than another Mandalorian? It’s very possible that they could end up meeting in Season 3 of The Mandalorian. Sabine is not only a Mandalorian, but she’s been taught how to wield the Darksaber by a Jedi! During season 3 of Star Wars Rebels, Kanan taught an unwilling Sabine how to handle the weapon and in the process, she also had to come face to face with her own demons. Initially, Kanan and Sabine practiced using sticks. It is during her lessons that the psyche of a Mandalorian is explained. They’re not people who express their emotions well and need help in opening up to the force.
Finding balance and dealing with trauma are important steps in learning how to wield a weapon like the Darksaber and Sabine can help Din achieve both these things. She has gone through the entire process herself, with a Jedi as her teacher. She understands the significance of the Darksaber to Mandalorians, and would probably help Din find a way to stop “fighting against the blade”, like the Armorer told him he did, and instead to “fight against his opponent” instead.
2. Ahsoka Tano
She’s a force wielder who has been trained by The Chosen One himself. She’s fought in a full scale war. Who better to train Din Djarin on how to use a Jedi weapon than a Jedi who survived the purge, fought several inquisitors and even fought Darth Vader himself? With her years of knowledge, she can help Din find the balance within him and to understand the force. Din has almost no understanding of the force and of the Jedi.
Until he met Grogu, he had been cut off entirely from any knowledge of that kind. He didn’t even know what the Darksaber was until he accidentally won it! Ahsoka happens to have far more knowledge of Mandalore and Mandalorians than Din does. Since the two have become friends, or at least cordial, I think she could find a way to help him understand the ways of the force just enough to allow him to wield a weapon like the Darksaber with ease.
3. Ezra Bridger
This may seem like a longshot because the two haven’t even met yet, and it doesn’t seem like Ezra has much time, you know, with the Thrawn problem he has! However, let’s say he did. Would Ezra be a good teacher for Din Djarin? He did help Sabine in her training as well, and watched as Kanan helped Sabine get through her inner struggles and express her pain. Being a force wielder and the friend of a Mandalorian, Ezra could also help Din out.
Also, it helps that he’s very friendly and his experiences have made him a lot wiser now too, so he may finally be able to pass down his knowledge to someone else. Though Ezra is an odd choice, he can’t be ruled out completely.
