WARNING: The following contains SPOILERS for The Bad Batch Season 2, Episode 6: “Tribe.”
Clone Force 99 is on yet another mission, presumably on behalf of Cid — this time they’re delivering cargo to a smuggling ring run by droids. What could possibly go wrong?
The answer to that is Gungi (yes, THAT Gungi). Omega catches a group of droids mistreating him, and she and the Batch end up rescuing him. Abandoning their mission, the group quickly escapes the ship with the young Wookiee Jedi on board.
Omega suggests they take Gungi to his homeworld of Kashyyyk. Even though the group fears the Empire may have already taken over the planet, they proceed anyway.
Upon landing, they discover a Wookiee village that has been burned and destroyed, and soon after, a group of Trandoshans appears. Gungi has been told to keep his lightsaber hidden, but he also can’t stand the thought of anyone getting hurt if he doesn’t stand up to defend them.
Now the Trandoshans know he’s a Jedi, and he may be in even more danger than before. But the group runs into a tribe of Wookiees who may be able to help.
The tribe’s leader agrees to let Gungi stay with them even though he is not from their village originally. Quickly adapting to the tribe’s customs and knowing Gungi will be safe, the Batch is set to leave just before the Trandoshans show up.
With the help of the trees, Gungi, the Batch, and the rest of the tribe manage to defeat their enemies and — at least temporarily — reclaim their rightful territory.
It’s implied that Gungi will remain on Kashyyyk and do what he can to help his fellow Wookiees stand strong against the Empire … for as long as they can.
