Joseph Shirley will reportedly score The Mandalorian Season 3

The Mandalorian Season 3 will release next month, and the show has some popular tracks to its credit, including the main theme, which is quite the banger.

Up till now, Ludwig Goransson composed the music for The Mandalorian Seasons 1 and 2. However, according to a report from FilmMusicReport.com, Joseph Shirley may be scoring Season 3.

He previously contributed to the score of the first two seasons of the show and was a member of Ludwig Goransson’s team.

Later on, Shirley became the main composer for The Book Of Boba Fett, and was Goransson provided the themes. Now, as per FilmMusicReport.com, Joseph Shirley will be the main composer for The Mandalorian Season 3, while Ludwig Goransson will again provide the themes. Some fans have expressed disappointment on this news, with many questioning the departure from Ludwig when his music has become the soul of the series. However, fans should take some heart in the fact that Shirley is no stranger to the sounds of The Mandalorian.

Having worked closely with Ludwig Goransson and being a part of his team for The Mandalorian Seasons 1 and 2, plus The Book Of Boba Fett, fans should give him a fair chance. For a better idea of what The Mandalorian Season 3 may sound like, fans should refer to Shirley’s work on The Book Of Boba Fett, especially Chapters 5-7 which featured both Din and Grogu prominently. You’ll realize that Ludwig’s music is at the heart of all the compositions. Tracks from Chapter 5 such as “The Underworld” and “Maiden Voyage” are worth listening to, and so is the more melancholy track from Chapter 6 titled “Two Paths Diverged”, which plays as Grogu is presented with the choice between becoming a Jedi and returning to his Mandalorian father.
