New Star Wars Comics: Darth Vader #31, The High Republic #5, and Hidden Empire #3

First up is the latest adventures with our favorite Sith Lord in Darth Vader #31. When the Skakoan revolutionary Jul Tambor and the Dark Lord eventually meet, Sabé will have to choose a side. Is Jul only another vengeful, self-centered monster? Or does he fervently care about his people and their struggle for their freedom? Perhaps both? And does Vader prefer to finish co-opting the Handmaidens of Padmé Amidala, or is he more interested in crushing Jul?

Darth Vader #31 is written by Greg Pak and illustrated by Ibraim Roberson, with cover art by R Rahzzah.

Next up, the Battle of Jedha has begun in The High Republic #5. Vildar Mac and Matty Cathley are gripped by overwhelming horror as the Herald of the Open Hand fuels the fires of Jedha. Tey Sirrek is a captive of the Whills’ Guardians. Can he utilize the mayhem to get away? Who are the enigmatic outsiders that are plundering the Temple of the Kyber? Is anywhere secure?

The High Republic #5 is written by Cavan Scott and illustrated by Andrea Broccardo, with cover art by Yanick Paquette.

Finally, in Hidden Empire #3, Lady Qi’ra’s plans to exterminate the Sith are in jeopardy, but she is not the only one who wants to wipe out the Dark Lords. Witness a conflict that has been years in the building as Darth Vader squares off against a foe who has spent her entire life preparing for this one, last opportunity at retribution.

Hidden Empire #3 is written by Charles Soule and illustrated by Steven Cummings, with cover art by Paulo Siqueira.

Meanwhile, in Bounty Hunters #28, there’s a panic at the Accretion Disco! The bounty hunters are engaged in a struggle to free themselves from the grip of a black hole. Making things worse, The Pykes intend to murder them first! And what will Valance have to give up in the interim to support the Empire?

Finally, the Rebel Alliance finds itself in a crisis in Star Wars #29. Amilyn Holdo, fortunately, has a solution: a search for a big cache of fuel believed to have been lost for decades. Time to go on a treasure hunt!

Star Wars #29 is written by Charles Soule and illustrated by Ramon Rosanas, with cover art by E.M. Gist.
