11. Cade Skywalker

Cade Skywalker is a very divisive character from Star Wars: Legends. Some people really love the hot mess Skywalker heir and others can’t stand him. The appeal of Cade is that he wants no part in the family legacy and he tries to forge a path for himself independent of the Skywalker name. This means forsaking his Force-sensitive nature, becoming a bounty hunter, and unfortunately developing a nasty death stick habit. The addiction is mostly because the ghost of his ancestor Luke Skywalker won’t leave him alone and the death sticks numb the pain.

While Cade tries to distance himself from his family’s legacy, he still winds up a target of the Sith. At one point, he is captured by Darth Maladi, who tortures him and injects him with a lethal dose of ixetal cilona, though his death stick addiction ends up giving him a rare immunity to the substance.

Despite generations between them, Cade was very similar to Anakin. He was constantly treading on the fringes of the Dark side, he was deeply bound by his attachments to others, and he was a chaotic mess of a man. Unlike his ancestor, Cade had the ability to cheat death — a skill Anakin would’ve loved to have. He is also one of the few Jedi who fell to the dark side and still managed to find his way back to the light.
