22. Tarfful

When most Star Wars fans think of Wookiees, they envision Chewie or Burryaga, but there are a lot of different Wookiees who have made appearances in various Star Wars media over the year. Tarfful first appeared in the now Legends-bound Star Wars: Republic Commando video game, but he was recently re-canonized in another video game and if you’ve played Jedi: Fallen Order, you may recognize him!

In the video game, Cal Kestis and his crew track down Tarfful in search of information that the chieftan has that will help Cal track down other Force-sensitive children. You don’t get the information out of him straight away, but on a return visit to Kashyyyk, Tarfful does reveal the location of a holocron containing a list of names that Cal can use to save other Force-sensitives like himself.

Even Saw Gerrera recognizes what a powerhouse Tarfful is, referring to him as “The freedom fighter [and] the symbol of the Wookiee resistance.”

In Legends, Tarfful was an old friend of Chewbacca’s who fought in the Battle of Kashyyk during the Clone Wars. He also had a close relationship with Yoda and had fought alongside Luminara Unduli and Quinlan Vos, which may explain why he had been entrusted with the information about Force-sensitive children.
