4. Kyle Katarn

This one is a deep cut because not everyone has played the older Star Wars video games, including Star Wars: Dark Forces and the Star Wars: Jedi Knight series, which means not everyone is aware of Jedi Master Kyle Katarn, who taught himself how to become a Jedi.

Kyle Katarn started out as an Imperial Officer who defected to the Rebellion and eventually he tapped into his Force-sensitive nature and sought out the Jedi path for himself. He even went on to fight against the Yuuzhan Vong, who played a pivotal part as adversaries to the Republic in Star Wars: Legends.

While the majority of Kyle Katarn’s legacy remains lost to the Expanded Universe, he does actually appear in the current Star Wars canon, but only just barely. He is included in the 2016 card game, Star Wars: The Card Game – Galactic Ambitions.

Following the introduction of the Dark Troopers in The Mandalorian, Star Wars fans started to discuss Kyle Katarn again. In Star Wars: Legends, Katarn is part of the investigation into the Dark Trooper Project, but it is unlikely that he will make a sudden appearance in the Disney+ series.
