Jon Favreau sat down with Total Film Magazine for an extended interview about the past, present and future of The Mandalorian. He answered a number of questions. Favreau has explained in his recent interviews that Season 4 is already written and ready to be filmed when the time comes, but this particular interview shed some light on whether Season 4 will be the final chapter in the book of Din Djarin and Grogu.

Favreau explained that there’s no plan to end the show after Season 4. Here’s the exact question he was asked and plus his answer.

"“No, I don’t – I think the beauty of this is that it’s a middle chapter of a much larger story. And though we’ll have resolution over time with these characters, I think that how these characters fit into the larger scope and scale, but it’s not like there’s a finale that we’re building to that I have in mind. Quite the contrary, I love for these stories to go on and on. And so these characters potentially could be with us for a while, and I really love telling stories in their voice, and I love the way the adventures unfold and I’m looking forward to doing much more.”"

There’s been some speculation on when the show will end even before Season 4 was confirmed, with some fans believing that perhaps Season 3 is the final one. Now with the scripts ready for Season 4, Favreau has given everyone a clearer idea of what he envisions for these characters and it sounds like he has no plan of wrapping things up anytime soon.

Fans can relax and enjoy season 3 knowing that there’s plenty more to come in the future. Din and Grogu will be with us for a while with many more adventures to take everyone along on. It’s also a relief to know that every season is written well in advance and planned out in careful detail.

Favreau didn’t reveal if Season 3 has the same jaw dropping surprises that made fans buzz in Season 2, such as Ahsoka Tano and Luke Skywalker’s appearances. He did however explain that he’s pleased by the weekly release schedule of the show because it allows fans to spend the week between releases to speculate and argue amongst themselves.
