Star Wars: The Bad Batch season 2 episode 11 review: ‘Metamorphosis’
WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Star Wars: The Bad Batch season 2 episode 11, “Metamorphosis .”
The Bad Batch often finds themselves in situations that are far beyond the average person’s ability to handle, but it seems clear that the Zillo Beast was more than a match for the Bad Batch. The return of this iconic creature from Star Wars: The Clone Wars signals that we may be finally getting to see more of his secretive projects.
Mount Tantiss, the Clone Commando Hangout
For fans of the Karen Traviss Republic Commando series and the following video game, they will have recognized the massive number of clone commandos in this episode. Scorch also made his return, seeming to be one of the commanding offices under the new (and quite sinister) Dr. Hemlock. It also seems like Mount Tantiss will be appearing quite frequently as the series moves forward. For those that remember its appearance the last time, we saw Gregor helping the Bad Batch on Mount Tantiss. So perhaps now that Echo and Rex have been called back, we will finally figure out how Gregor ended up back with the Rex.
Palpatine and the Zillo Legacy
The Zillo Beast and its tough outer layer is something that the Republic originally wanted for its long-term advantages for its skin. Given that Palpatine is working on the beast and its energy absorption capacity, the question is what exactly it is going to be used of. As of the moment, the best guess would probably be something to affect the Death Star but only time will tell.
Final Thoughts
It seems like Dr. Hemlock has replaced Admiral Rampart as the ‘big bad’ for this season of The Bad Batch. So far he seems much more cunning, and even more ruthless than his predecessor. This episode sets the Bad Batch on a collision course with Dr. Hemlock as Omega is now once again being hunted for insidious purposes.
