WARNING: The following contains SPOILERS for The Bad Batch Season 2, Episode 11: “Metamorphosis.”

The episode opens Alien-style, with a clone commando running through a dark and damaged ship interior. Something very bad has happened here. It appears the rest of the crew is no more. And just when the audience is really starting to worry about this guy … oops, he’s gone.

There’s a monster on board, and it’s … hungry. Probably.

On a secret Imperial facility (remember the tail end of Season 1? We’re back!), enter Dr. Hemlock, the new big bad taking over after Rampart’s takedown. He approaches Nala Se, who has apparently been sitting in a containment cell after refusing to help the Empire. Can you blame her? You wouldn’t want to work for the people who destroyed your home either.

Dr. Hemlock seems to think he can get Nala Se to cooperate. He just needs the help of her old boss, who most definitely isn’t going to side with her on any of this.

Uh-oh! One of the ships carrying an “asset” has crash-landed and needs immediate retrieval. Gee, I wonder why it crashed …

Back on the Marauder, Clone Force 99 is back in contact with Cid. There’s talk of that ship again — and she wants them to return to her with any “cargo” they can grab.

Approaching the planet where the ship has crashed, they discover it’s gone down near a village. Once they land themselves and enter the wreckage, they begin to better understand what they’re dealing with.

That’s when the monster appears.

It turns out it’s the zillow beast species from The Clone Wars! Palpatine wasn’t messing around when he said he wanted the creature cloned. It would probably be fine if it didn’t escape the ship and start heading straight for the nearby village …

Before the Batch can take it down, the Empire swoops in. They capture the best, who has been feeding off energy and getting very, very big. The crew is able to escape, now carrying a major Imperial secret they’re not supposed to know about.

A “special guest” arrives at the secret facility. Lama Su is big mad, and in exchange for his freedom, he has a proposal.

Lama Su knows exactly how to persuade Nala Se to do what the doctor wants. All he needs to do is find and “retrieve” a young clone named … Omega.
