Fans of The Bad Batch have been clamoring for more episodes with the rogue Batch member, Crosshair, and it seems like we are on the verge of getting just that this week.

In a heart-wrenching and fear-inducing moment, showrunner Jennifer Corbett sent out a pair of tweets seeming to indicate that something big is coming. This week’s episode is called “The Outpost.” In her tweet, Corbett says, “You’ve asked and asked and asked. But be careful what you wish for. Episode 212 of The Bad Batch drops Wednesday.” Along with it, there is a gif from the Oscar-nominated movie All Quiet on the Western Front.

If there has been one character fans have asked over and over about, it’s Crosshair. We haven’t seen him since week two of The Bad Batch’s season two run. And knowing the plot of All Quiet on the Western Front, this tweet has to be about him.

Corbett followed up with a less Star Wars-y related tweet, talking more about the film.

To add to all of this, the Kiner Brothers, who help with their father, Kevin Kiner, on The Bad Batch’s score, responded to Corbett’s original tweet. Their account has been teasing episodes all season, even hinting at Doctor Hemlock’s arrival before the episode aired. Their playfully trolling response added so much more to my fear of “The Outpost.”

Without spoilers for the movie in case you want to watch it, Wikipedia has the summary of All Quiet on the Western Front:

“Set during World War I, it follows the life of an idealistic young German soldier named Paul Bäumer. After enlisting in the German Army with his friends, Bäumer finds himself exposed to the realities of war, shattering his early hopes of becoming a hero as he does his best to survive.”

Crosshair, who has sided with a fascist government because he seems to truly believe in the order that the Empire is spouting, is more than likely Paul in this scenario. Knowing what happens to Paul in this movie, I’m suddenly very scared to see what Wednesday brings us for The Bad Batch.
