The Mandalorian S3E2 ending explained: ‘Chapter 18: The Mines of Mandalore’
Warning! Spoilers ahead for The Mandalorian season three, episode two, “Chapter 18: The Mines of Mandalore.”
Last week’s season three premiere of The Mandalorian saw Din and Grogu set off with a new mission–find the Mines of Mandalore so Din could bathe in them and redeem himself after removing his helmet. Read on below to find out what happened to Din and Grogu this week.
Into the Mines
After gaining a clearly defined mission for this new season in last week’s premiere, “The Mines of Mandalore” saw Din (Pedro Pascal) take Grogu on an ill-fated mission to the Mines of Mandalore with Bo-Katan’s (Katee Sackhoff) directions.
Of course, he largely ignored her warnings and soon found danger, forcing Grogu to go back to Bo-Katan and retrieve her to save Mando.
It’s clear that going back to Mandalore was the last thing Bo-Katan wanted to do, but once she set about saving Din, she continued to help him on his quest and take him to the waters.
As they journeyed through the mines, it was clear that despite them both being Mandalorian, Bo-Katan and Din could not see things more differently about their heritage.
Though Bo-Katan took the Creed and was brought up in the royal family, she sees it as nothing more than a tradition while it’s “the way” for Din.
The episode ended after Din bathed in the waters and was rescued once again by Bo-Katan due to an encounter with what appeared to be a mythosaur in the depths of the waters.
What the mythosaur itself means for Mandalorian legend remains to be seen, but it’s clear it’s the beginning of Bo-Katan questioning what she knows about her one-time home, and perhaps, what Din knows about his own upbringing.
