Ever since the end of The Mandalorian Season 2 the Darksaber has been on every Mando fans’ mind, and rightfully so. The ancient Mandalorian Jedi weapon that belonged to Tarre Vizsla, ended up in Din Djarin’s possession when he defeated Moff Gideon in a duel. Everyone expected Season 3 to heavily focus on the Darksaber ,and for Bo Katan and Din to be at odds, with the Darksaber leading to tension between the two Mandalorians.

The Book Of Boba Fett even showed Din pulling out the Darksaber quite a few times. He trained with The Armorer on how to wield it, and ended up in a duel over the it with Paz Vizsla, which he won. In Season 3, we’ve only seen it a few times and it seems to have taken a backseat to everything else that’s transpiring. That’s not to say that it won’t play a role in the second half of the season, but this is a little unexpected.

Bo Katan asked Din if he has the Darksaber and he said he did in Chapter 17. Later on, she used it to help him when he was trapped while exploring the Mines of Mandalore. Since then, we haven’t seen it, and there hasn’t been any mention of it. It’s a little strange considering that the weapon supposedly has the power to bring the Mandalorian people together. Four chapters of Season 3 have already been released, and Din still hasn’t quite mastered how to use the Darksaber, and he hasn’t decided what he wants to use it for.

This is more than a little disappointing for fans who were looking forward to the clash between Din and Bo over the Darksaber and wished to see a Jedi, or someone with some expertise, guiding Din on how to properly wield the it. Some fans hoped that it would be Luke, some wished for Ahsoka and the rest wanted Sabine Wren to teach Din, but so far, with everything that’s going on in Season 3, there doesn’t seem to be much time for this to happen.

Let’s see what Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni are up to for the rest of the season, and hopefully, Din Djarin fans will get to see their guy training with the Darksaber again.

Meanwhile, The Mandalorian Season 3 is streaming now on Disney+, and the next episode arrives on March 29th, and is reportedly 40 minutes long.
