It was recently announced that there will be not one, not even two, but three brand new Star Wars films coming out. This is absolutely huge for the franchise as a whole since something like this hasn’t been done in quite some time (the last and final film of The Skywalker Saga came out in December of 2019 called Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker.

Each of the three movies will feature a different director, which is also something new that the franchise is experiencing with. One live-action film will take on James Mangold, one will take on Dave Filoni, and the final one will take on Obaid-Chinoy.

The first brand new film will be Dawn of the Jedi. Here’s everything we know.

The first of the three brand new Star Wars films will feature a pretty big-named director. Yes, you heard that correctly, James Mangold, director of 2023’s most anticipated film, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, will be directing one of the three films as he just only is beginning his relationship in the Star Wars universe with Lucasfilm themselves.

What will Dawn of the Jedi be about?

Star Wars Celebration was just this past weekend over in London where Dawn of the Jedi was announced as this first film’s subtitle. The announcers described it simply as a “biblical epic” and will heavily feature some biblical ideas, much like some that are already incenuated throughout the entire franchise as a whole.

According to AMC:

"“It is a prequel that will trace the origins of the Force and the birth of the Jedi Order. It will also redefine the phrase, ‘A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away’, by taking place 25,000 years earlier than any installment of this saga told on screen yet.”"

Are there any recurring characters coming back?

Since this particular film is taking place 25,000 years before any of the other 9 films within the Skywalker Saga it’s pretty hard to imagine any of those particularly popular characters coming back; however, it is Hollywood, so you really truly and honestly just simply never know.

How long will this film be?

Again, very little is yet to be known about this film, but through doing just a bit of math over here, the average length of a Star Wars film (of the 9 Skywalker Saga episodes) sits at: 133 minutes, or 2 hours and 13 minutes. We can only imagine this next installment to be somewhat similar.

Is there any sort of soft release date for the film just yet?

We’re not even sure what’s been discussed about this film besides possible titles, characters, plot, etc. So that being said, there’s no release date as of yet, but as soon as we know, so will you!

That’s a wrap on what we know so far about the brband new Star Wars film, Dawn of the Jedi!
