Just this past weekend Star Wars Celebration happened out over in London. This year, as there always is each and every year that it comes around, a whole bunch of stuff was released/announced. This time around, not just one or two, but three brand new Star Wars films will be released over the next several years.

The first to be released will be directed by Indiana Jones’ James Mangold. The second to be released will be directed by The Mandalorian’s Dave Filoni. And the third and final film to be released will be directed by Pakistani-Canadian Journalist Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy.

Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy is a female director for this brand new Star Wars film! What will she bring to the table this time?

The third and final installment of three brand new Star Wars films to be released will be directed by a super strong female Pakistani-Canadian Journalist, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy! She’s been a writer, director, and producer among many other job titles throughout her decades-long career. This will be her introduction to and first time working with Lucasfilm this time. She has also directed two episodes of Ms. Marvel, so she is certainly no stranger to Disney.

What will her brand new SW film be about?

This particular film is set to take place 15 years post-events of the 2019 film Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker.

According to AMC:

"“The film will take inspiration from the “New Jedi Order” book series, but as told from the perspective of Rey as she works to find and recruit other potential warriors who are also gifted with a connection to the Force.”"

Are there any recurring characters coming back?

Of course as we already know, Daisy Ridley will be reprising her role as Rey Skywalker in this brand new film. Rey is so iconic; little girls want to be her, little girls dress up as her for Halloween, and just overall her real-life (not in a movie) personality is just so shiny that you just can’t help but to fall in love with her.

Let me just say this right here and right now: Rey Rocks and we cannot wait to see her come back!

How long will this film be?

Not much has been released about this film, thus far that is, but after doing some serious and math and just a bit of additional research over here, the average Star Wars film, of the 9 Skywalker Saga episodes, sits right around at 133 minutes or 2 hours and 13 minutes. Expect something similar to that time-frame, give or take just a few of course.

Is there any sort of soft release date for the film just yet?

Rey will be helping to build a brand new Jedi Order in this film, that actually has a projected release year of somewhere right around (give or take just a few too) 2025, but that was just a rumor and if two other films have to come out before it, then 2025 is highly unlikely. So, be patient, y’all, even though trust me, I know it’s hard!

That’s a wrap on what we know thus far about Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy’s new Star Wars movie!
