The Mandalorian Season 3 wasn’t perfect, but it came to a very perfect conclusion in Chapter 24. “All’s well that ends well”, as they say, so we’ll forgive the few hits and misses and turn our attention to the future of the now official pair of father and son, Din and Din Grogu. The two fought side by side and Grogu played an important role in protecting his father during the finale. The same goes for Din, but it’s clear that they’re partners now and make a formidable Mandalorian and Jedi duo.

Din Djarin officially adopted Grogu in the finale, making Grogu his son as well as his apprentice. For now, the two have settled down in a cabin on Nevarro, a picture perfect setting. This ending has an emotional connection to season 1. Nevarro is the same planet where Din made the life changing decision to go back and save Grogu, going against the guild and getting his covert exposed in the process. Now the two can finally be together in peace, something Din has always quietly desired, but not been able to provide for Grogu.

But there’s surely more action on the horizon, especially now that Din will work as an “independent contractor” for the New Republic. This has a lot of potential story wise, and will hopefully be explored because it directly relates to the larger plot involving Thrawn and other important characters such as Ahsoka, Ezra, and maybe even Luke.

How long before Din and Din Grogu are lured back into the action? What will their downtime be like on Nevarro? Where will they be off to on their next journey together? Which friends will they pay a visit to? These are some questions going forward. Also, will the time spent raising Grogu in an ideal domestic setting help Din see past his warrior ways? Perhaps he will now wish to remove his helmet and interact face to face with his son, or maybe he will begin to realize that eventually, Grogu will wear a helmet as well and he won’t be able to see his face again.

There’s also a question of whether Grogu is really safe again from the Empire or will someone be coming after him in the future? He’s been chased by Gideon and suddenly this season Gideon didn’t seem interested in him, but there’s no telling what the future holds. Perhaps Din and Grogu will catch up with old friends in the future like Boba Fett, Ahsoka Tano and maybe even Luke Skywalker. Fans will have to wait a while to see where things are headed. Season 4 apparently begins filming later this year, but will most likely not release for at least a year or two.

Until then, everyone can rewatch all 24 chapters of The Mandalorian on Disney+.
