Back in 2022, in case you were unaware of this, Lucasfilm and Volkswagen collabed on a car for Obi-Wan Kenobi celebrating it’s streaming release over on Disney+, and those ‘buzz cars’ premiered at Star Wars Celebration last year. This year, the Vice President and Creative Director, one of the most powerful of his kind over in the world of Star Wars, Doug Chiang, didn’t want the collaboration to end just there; he wanted to keep this relationship going for more to enjoy, so this time around, the design collab is streaming from the world of The Mandalorian.
What will this brand new collab between Lucasfilm and Volkswagen be like and how much will it actually remind us of The Mandalorian?
Last year’s collab involved a dark side and a light side. Chiang decided that he liked that one so much that he was even more inspired to make/create yet another design that would be just as eye-catching, if not even more.
The brand new ID.Buzz resulted in a brand new collaboration; essentially, it is a wrap inspired by the newest season of The Mandalorian (S3) that is officially all streamed and out over on Disney+. Specifically, it is also pretty heavily inspired by “Din Djarin’s modded Naboo N-1 starfighter”. Here’s just a little bit more about the design and how it truly came to be during Star Wars Celebration:
"“Debuting at Star Wars Celebration Europe 2023, the Mando-themed design is subtle and smart, incorporating the N-1’s metallic color scheme and other details, like the yellow stripe from the ship’s original paint job, vertical lines mimicking panels, and the mudhorn insignia, which Mando sports on his beskar armor.”"
Needless to say, if you’re a huge fan of Mando and know all of the little things and all of the details, then this is just for you!
That’s a wrap on the brand new collab between Lucasfilm X Volkswagen with The Mandalorian!
