Where Star Wars Jedi: Survivor takes place in the Star Wars timeline
By Meg Dowell
With the release of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor this Friday, April 28, you might be wondering: When does the highly-anticipated video game take place in the larger Star Wars timeline?
The first game in the series, Jedi: Fallen Order, took place about five years after the events of Revenge of the Sith. Sam Maggs’ 2023 novel Jedi: Battle Scars, took place several years after the end of that game.
Here’s what we know about Survivor‘s place in the timeline ahead of its release.
In the official teaser trailer for the game, Cal himself has the answer you’re looking for: “It’s been a long five years.” By this he means it’s been five years since the last game, or 10 years since the events of Order 66.
Do we know of any other Star Wars stories that take place around this time? We do, actually. You may have heard of a little Disney+ exclusive series called Obi-Wan Kenobi, named after its title character. The series also takes place about 10 years after Anakin Skywalker falls to the dark side.
While it’s unlikely that Cal and Obi-Wan will cross paths in the game, having seen Obi-Wan Kenobi does give good context for what the galaxy is like at the time Survivor takes place. The Inquisitors are still very much alive and on the hunt. The Empire is growing stronger and deadlier by the day. The Rebellion may just be beginning, but it’s determined, and it’s daring.
Cal and the crew of the Stinger Mantis are in for a wild, dangerous ride. Let’s see where EA’s latest Star Wars adventure takes us.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is available for pre-order, and will release on Xbox, PlayStation 5, and PC April 28, 2023.
