A new cast member is joining the upcoming series Skeleton Crew, and it was announced in a surprising way. Jaleel White announced during the broadcast of the Edmonton Oilers game that he will be in the series.
He also gave away a lot more details than I would have expected. The interaction was shared by Twitter user @zjlaing. When asked about his upcoming projects, White shared with the audience:
"“I’m actually going to be on a new series on Disney+ starring Jude Law called Skeleton Crew. It’s part of the Star Wars universe, so that’s a big change for me, man. I had to do two hours of makeup every day. I get to be a pirate.”"
I’m surprised that he was just able to share all of this so easily. Disney is usually pretty tight-lipped about their announcements, so it’s a delight that White just threw this out into the world. I assume he had permission to share and he chose the most random location to do so.
White mentions being a pirate, which could be several possibilities. There are a group of pirates in The Mandalorian, and one Nikto member, Vane, left his captain behind. It’s been reported that Vane was in the Skeleton Crew trailer at Star Wars Celebration, so perhaps White is part of that crew. Being in makeup for two hours every day also seems to indicate that White is more than likely playing an alien character of some kind.
Jaleel White is best known for his role as Steve Urkel in the 1990s series Family Matters. He was also the voice of Sonic in multiple series in the 90s including beloved ‘SatAM’ Sonic the Hedgehog. White has also shown off his acting range in a wide array of movies and shows like Dreamgirls, Psyche, Drunk History, and Me, Myself, and I.
Skeleton Crew is coming together, and White is an excellent addition to the series.
