Ming Na Wen has been taking the world by storm and it’s no surprise as to why. Her acting talents range from the deadly assassin Fennec Shand from Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett, to the fearless Mulan who saves China and Professor Melinda May from Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Her acting repertoire includes voice acting roles in video games and animated shows, with her most recent role in Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai. It may take the star some time to fully comprehend the amazing reality that she has officially received a star on the legendary Hollywood Walk of Fame!

But how did Wen’s acting career take off? Believe it or not, it all started with her performing in school plays.

“That’s when I was hooked,” Wen says in her interview. Born in China, Wen and her family moved to New York when she was a child and then moved again to the Pittsburgh area.

How did Ming Na Wen’s career begin?

It is there that she attended the same high school as Dave Filoni, the man behind many Star Wars projects such as Star Wars: The Clone Wars and The Mandalorian. But she returned to The Big Apple to perform in theater and work in the soap opera As the World Turns.

From there she had roles in several films and television shows such as The Joy Luck Club, ER, Street Fighter, and as we later come to know Marvel, Star Wars and Disney. But throughout it all Wen is a proud Star Wars geek and fan admitting that “I still pray to God, Buddha and The Force,” every time she gets on a plane.

In her interview, Wen notes that she will be releasing a cookbook soon, stating, “It’s going to also be a journey through my culture, my food and my family through all these dishes,”. After that, who knows what’s next for Wen!

Regardless, we look forward to finding out!
