Executive Producer Rick Famuyiva is just as excited about the next season of The Mandalorian as its fans. He says it’s definitely coming, but just isn’t too sure of when.
The Mandalorian Season 3 premiered in March after a wait that lasted more than two years. The season ended in April, and now fans are waiting for any news regarding the production work on Season 4 and the approximate date of its arrival on Disney+.
Unfortunately, that information likely won’t be confirmed for a while longer. Executive producer Rick Famuyiwa explained that Jon Favreau has finished the scripts of Season 4, and even though Disney hasn’t officially renewed the show for a fourth season yet, Famuyiwa assures fans that it is indeed coming.
"“I know that [co-creator Jon Favreau] has written the scripts. I know he’s excited about continuing to tell stories in this world, and so when and how that happens, considering everything, we’ll see.“I felt like this season was a nice culmination, but I’m excited about Season 4. It’s certainly coming, I just don’t know exactly when.”"
The culmination for Din and Grogu came towards the end of the season when Din officially adopted Grogu and Grogu became his son, as well as his apprentice. In season 4, along with the adorable father and son moments, fans can look forward to seeing the duo’s home life in their new cabin, and what it’s like for Din to teach Grogu about the Mandalorian way.
As for now, apart from Ahsoka, Skeleton Crew and The Acolyte, there’s no other Disney+ series on the horizon in the near future, until the fourth season of The Mandalorian officially goes into production, something which is delayed indefinitely due to the writer’s strike in Hollywood at the moment.
Until season 4 does go into production, perhaps fans will catch another glimpse of their favorite Mandalorian and his child on Ahsoka, which is also set during the Mando timeline. Ahsoka premieres August 23 on Disney+.
