Ahsoka is just a few weeks away and a look at the mystical World Between Worlds could be one of the most exciting places it introduces to live action.

The World Between Worlds first showed up in Star Wars during Rebels. Dave Filoni conceptualized it by consulting with George Lucas. Filoni revealed that the idea of it came from the Chronicles of Narnia. According to Wookieepedia  the World Between Worlds is ” a mystical plane within the Force that served as a collection of doors and pathways existing between time and space, linking all moments in time together.”

In Rebels, Ezra entered the World Between Worlds and was able to save Ahsoka, or she would’ve been lost forever. He also wished to save his master, Kanan Jarrus, but with Ahsoka’s guidance, he decided to let him go.

Now, years later in Ahsoka, it’s possible that the World Between Worlds may show up again. What could be the reason for it’s return, if it happens? Here are some theories as to what role the World Between Worlds could play in the series:

  1. It may be used to change an event in the past: Either Ahsoka or someone else may end up in the World Between Worlds and try to change an event in the past. Maybe Ahsoka will try to enter it to undo Anakin’s fall to the dark side, or to undo the moment she decided to leave the Jedi Order forever.
  2. To stop the Empire from misusing it:  Sidious might be “dead” but he knew of the existence of the World Between Worlds. Thrawn knows about it as well, and the cunning Grand Admiral might try to use it to further his plans, whatever they are. If that’s the case, maybe Ahsoka would try to reach it before he does to stop him.
  3. To get a glimpse into the future:  A light side user and Jedi like Ahsoka is fully aware of her limits and would never misuse the World Between Worlds. However, since it can reveal possible future events or even what really is going to happen in the future, she could use it to see what may lie ahead, and what Thrawn might be planning for the future of the Galaxy. In this way, it can serve as a warning for Ahsoka to alert her friends of the danger that lies ahead.

We’ll have to wait a few more weeks to see if the World Between World plays any role in Ahsoka. It premieres August 23 on Disney+.
