The brand new Ahsoka trailer was released today and gives a unique perspective on the series when compared to the previous one. This was seems a lot more emotional, action packed and full of intense drama. There’s also a handful of new information to process from the latest trailer about all the characters involved.
Here are 5 things we learned from the new Ahsoka trailer:
- Ahsoka is Sabine Wren’s master: This came as a huge surprise since there were no hints of this happening up till now. The previous footage of the series did reveal that Sabine now wields a lightsaber, and actress Natasha Liu Bordizzo also discussed receiving lightsaber training for the series, along with the Mandalorian fighting style that she had to learn to master, but Ahsoka, a Jedi, training Sabine, is definitely a big and exciting revelation.
- Ahsoka and Sabine aren’t on the best of terms: Ahsoka walked away from Sabine and never completed her training. In the trailer, Ahsoka complains of Sabine’s stubbornness, and Sabine wonders if Ahsoka’s master found her difficult at times too.
- Baylan Skol and Shin Hati are not Jedi: That was fairly obvious, but this trailer confirms it. They’re not Jedi, they may not be Sith, so what are they? Also, Baylan knew Anakin pretty well, and said that Anakin always spoke highly of Ahsoka.
- The Magistrate has Magical Powers: Is she a night sister, or something else? It’s hard to tell, but if you’ve seen the trailer, you’ve seen Morgan Elsbeth weaving something magical with her hands. We’ll have to wait until the series to find out exactly what she’s capable of, and why she didn’t put her powers to use while fighting against Ahsoka in Chapter 13: The Jedi.
- Ahsoka still hasn’t dealt with her past: The very act of her walking away without completing Sabine’s training, as indicated by the trailer, shows that Ahsoka is dealing with trauma from her past. Something stopped her from finishing Sabine’s training, just as something stopped her from agreeing to train Grogu. Maybe it’s time she meets Anakin’s force ghost to work on some of that guilt adn trauma she’s been carrying around for a few decades now.
Apart from that, the trailer has some gorgeous shots of live action Lothal, and the New Republic Fleet, and a planet with reddish/maroon colored flowers which looks quite a bit like Corvus, if Corvus wasn’t so deserted. Perhaps that planet went through a period of revival after it was freed of the terror of Morgan Elsbeth by Din Djarin and Ahsoka in Chapter 13.
Ahsoka premieres August 23 on Disney+.
