The Emmy Awards 2023 nominations were announced this morning, and Star Wars scored big as a franchise with 22 Emmy Nominations, including 9 for The Mandalorian Season 3, 8 for Andor, and 5 for Obi Wan Kenobi.

Andor received the coveted Outstanding Drama Series nomination, while Kenobi bagged an Outstanding Limited Series nomination. Andor director Benjamin Caron picked up a nomination for Direction of the episode “Rix Road”, and Andor also bagged a writing nomination for “One Way Out”. Andor’s composer Nicholas Britell also received two nominations.

The Mandalorian, which kickstarted the trend of Star Wars series receiving multiple Emmy nominations bagged Outstanding Drama Series nods for Season 1 and 2. It missed out on that this year but got nominations in the stunt work, costumes, cinematography, hair and makeup categories. The Mandalorian has already received and won multiple Emmys for its first two season. Obi Wan Kenobi picked up nominations for Sound Mixing, Costumes, Outstanding Sound Editing, and Outstanding Single Camera Picture Editing for for its final chapter.

The actors in the Star Wars galaxy missed out on Awards recognition, including leading man Diego Luna and supporting cast Genevieve O Reilly, Stellan Skarsgard and Andy Serkis for Andor, Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen and many others for Kenobi. Previously, several actors from The Mandalorian received acting nominations, including Giancarlo Esposito and Carl Weathers. But don’t be too sad about that, Mandalorian lead actor Pedro Pascal grabbed not one, not two but three different Emmy nominations this year, including a leading actor nomination for The Last of Us, Guest Star in a Comedy Series for Saturday Night Live, and Outstanding Narration for Patagonia: Life On The Edge of The World.

Perhaps an acting nomination for The Mandalorian is the next thing Pascal will knock off his list of desired achievements, but for that, he’ll have to wait until Season 4.

The Emmy Awards will take place live on September 18th at 8pm EST on FOX.
