Does latest Ahsoka trailer hint at how Ezra will be found?

The latest trailer for Ahsoka  gives plenty of material to discuss in the weeks remaining till the series premieres. One thing in particular that stands out is the presence of a certain creature fans of Star Wars: Rebels will be very familiar with. The Purrgil, a giant space whale, shows up at approximately 1 minute and 30 seconds into the trailer, and Ahsoka’s ship is flying right towards it.

That’s not all, though not shown clearly, Purrgil were certainly present in The Mandalorian Season 3 as Din and Grogu traveled through hyperspace on the N1 Starfighter. Grogu noticed them, and their silhouette could clearly be made out. Purrgil are creatures Ezra Bridger developed a strong connection to in Rebels. He was able to communicate with them, something that played a role in his and Thrawn’s eventual disappearance at the end of Season 4.

So the question is, is the combination of Ahsoka trailer footage plus The Mandalorian Season 3 a hint to fans of how Ezra will be found?  During the Rebels Season 4 finale, with his planet’s future in danger, Ezra made the ultimate sacrifice. With the help of his friends, he was able to summon the Purrgil who helped him obliterate a significant portion of Thrawn’s fleet.

Ezra confronted Thrawn, who wasn’t expecting any of what was happening around him. Ezra guided the Purrgils because he was able to communicate with them, and they carried Thrawn and Ezra into hyperspace where they disappeared and haven’t been found. But, if Ezra could use the Purrgil to carry him and Thrawn into hyperspace, perhaps he can use them again to find Ahsoka. The reverse can also be possible. Maybe this time, Ahsoka will be able to use the force to communicate with the Purrgil and ask them to assist her in finding Ezra.

In Star Wars lore, Purrgil were apparently the inspiration between hyperspace travel. If a Jedi is able to communicate with them, the results can be deadly for any unsuspecting enemy. As a result, it’s very possible that if Ahsoka is trying to find Purrgil and use them to locate Ezra, then she is not alone.

Ahsoka premieres August 23 on Disney+.
