If you’ve ever thought to yourself, “Wow. There are a lot of Star Wars comics. And they just keep coming out? Like, every week? That’s so cool,” the good news is, you’re right. Star Wars comics just keep coming, and this week’s releases even add yet another new series to the fray.

Let’s take a closer look at the new comics hitting physical and digital shelves on August 2.

Dark Droids 1

First announced at Star Wars Celebration 2023 and debuting the first week of August, Marvel’s Dark Droids series “will be a rare horror-fueled Star Wars epic set that erupts when a new threat is unleashed throughout the galaxy, corrupting droids, cyborgs, and everything in-between,” according to Marvel.

This series is the start of a Marvel comics crossover event similar to War of the Bounty Hunters. Stories will connect across multiple Star Wars comics series, including the mainline Star Wars series, Darth Vader, and more.

Charles Soule kicks off this series as writer, alongside artist Luke Ross. Next week’s Star Wars comics will continue the ongoing crossover event with Darth Vader 37.

Hyperspace Stories 7

The Hyperspace Stories comic tells one story per issue, each told by different writers and taking place across the expansive Star Wars timeline. This week’s issue of the series (there are 12 in total) is written by Michael Moreci, and is illustrated by Andrea Mutti, Gigi Baldassini, and Valerio Alloro.

This is the continuation of the ongoing series that began its run in August 2022. The all-ages series is published by Dark Horse, who took over the all-ages Star Wars comics license from IDW recently.

Yoda 10

Sadly, the Yoda comic series from Marvel offers its final installment this week with its 10th issue. The series followed Yoda on Dagobah as he reflected on his past, transporting readers to different points in his life and key moments he took with him into exile.

The final issue was written by Cavan Scott, and illustrated by Ibraim Roberson and Neeraj Menon.
