The World Between Worlds is one of the most fascinating thing to come from Star Wars, especially from a show like Rebels which was full of mystical elements. Ahsoka is alive because Ezra saved her when he entered the World Between Worlds. If not for that, her story would’ve ended after her duel with Darth Vader. After that episode, which came at the end of Rebels Season 2, most fans assumed that Ahsoka had lost her life, and it was the end of “Fulcrum”.

It was far from that. Dave Filoni had something else planned, and it all led to that moment in Season 4, when Ezra pulled Ahsoka through a portal before Darth Vader could kill her. It saved her life, but it also changed Star Wars forever. Since that episode, fans have continued to wonder what role the World Between Worlds will play in the future. Now, since Ahsoka is right around the corner, it’s hard to imagine that the show won’t revisit this magical realm again in some manner.

So, what are the possibilities? If Ezra could alter an event in the past and save Ahsoka, is it possible that something similar will happen in the upcoming series? Or will the World Between Worlds be used to stop an event from occurring in the future? Its existence was well known to the Empire. Palpatine was aware of it, and therefore it’s very possible that it can be used to change the past or see the future for nefarious purposes.

History tends to repeat itself. If the World Between Worlds was used to undo something in the past, it may happen again. Saving Ahsoka was a positive event for the galaxy, but maybe this time, the results can be negative. Perhaps it might undo something positive. There are may dark forces at play, and Ahsoka is on the hunt for Thrawn, but also needs to find Ezra. While all of this is happening, someone could end up in the World Between Worlds and unleash something catastrophic, or timeline altering. If that’s the case, then Ahsoka will have canon altering implications. This series has been in the making for a while now, and Dave Filoni considers it to be a fifth season of Rebels, so fans won’t be wrong if they’re expecting big things to happen.

Ahsoka premieres August 23 on Disney+.
