Fans of Star Wars: Visions rejoice! A brand-new comic from the anthology series is on its way.

StarWars.com announced Star Wars: Visions – Peach Momoko #1, a one-shot comic set in the ideas of the Star Wars universe, while letting comic creators have their own take on the franchise. This issue is by Peach Momoko, who has worked on various variant comics for Women’s History Month and Star Wars: Darth Vader: Black, White & Red.

Speaking with Dan Brooks of StarWars.com, Peach Momoko discussed her joy in creating her version of Star Wars, saying:

"“I really enjoy thinking about how to tell my own version of Star Wars, while keeping in mind the concepts of the original universe… I wanted to tell a story about a cult. And I felt within the Star Wars universe, the dark side was something that ties to when a human, or something living, loses itself and then wants to rely on believing something in order to have hope to live.”"

The description on StarWars.com for Peach Momoko #1 states:

"“[The comic] picks up centuries after the death of a major Sith Lord, with a cult called Ankok having grown around the notorious dark side servant. Tata, leader of the cult, believes she is the rightful successor to this Sith Lord. Meanwhile, a girl named Kako and her loyal droid Gel are fated to confront this new evil. Another character, Popo, follows Kako and Gel on their adventure.”"

I hope this is the first of many Visions one-shots. While I enjoyed the tie-in comics released for Season 1’s “The Duel,” and the manga adaptations have been on my to-get list for some time, this is such an exciting idea, running with what made Star Wars: Visions fantastic. The anthology not only brings in new voices to the franchise but allows for new ideas to flourish when not burdened with the binds of established canon. My mind is already racing at the possibility of my favorite comic artists getting a chance to do something unique in a galaxy far, far away.
