There’s a Disney+ Special coming on September 15. The special titled “Master and Apprentice: A Special Look at Ahsoka” was confirmed on the D23 website. Information about the special was confirmed along with a host of other projects due out in September, including episodes of Ahsoka, which premieres tomorrow with its first two episodes. Here is the description of the special:

"“Disney+ will also air new episodes of Star Wars: Ahsoka, which follow Ahsoka Tano as she investigates a threat to the galaxy, every Wednesday with episodes 4 through 7 airing in September. On September 15, audiences can watch how the series continues Star Wars’ legacy in Master & Apprentice: A Special Look at Ahsoka.”"

Although the date and time of Ahsoka‘s premiere has changed to August 22 at 9 pm ET, the new Disney+ special airing next month still seems to lie around the time of the release of Ahsoka‘s 5th episode. Dave Filoni directs that episode, and since the special is about continuing the legacy of Master and Apprentice, maybe Episode 5 also marks the return of Ahsoka’s own master, Anakin Skywalker.

Filoni, who created Ahsoka from her debut in The Clone Wars movie along with George Lucas, has shaped her arc until now. He won’t be directing all the series’ episodes, but the ones he does direct are probably very meaningful to Ahsoka’s story. Hayden Christensen’s involvement with the series has long been rumored, and since all the promos have highlighted the Master and Apprentice bond between Ahsoka and Sabine, plus Ahsoka and Anakin, it seems almost confirmed that Hayden is a lock for the series.

His appearance in the series can come in many forms, and hopefully, all possible ways of bringing him into Ahsoka’s story are utilized. He can appear as Darth Vader, whom Ahsoka dueled during Star Wars Rebels. He can appear as her master from The Clone Wars days in the form of a flashback, and he can also return in the present-day timeline as force ghost Anakin, allowing him to interact with Ahsoka.

Ahsoka premieres tomorrow with two episodes on Disney+, and stay up to date here at Dork Side of the Force.
