There are a number of Star Wars movies currently in the development stage, including Taika Waitit’s unnamed project and Patty Jenkins’ Rogue Squadron.

Added to the list is another untitled film by director Shawn Levy of Pink Panther and Night at the Museum fame. No name, date, or plot of this mysterious project has been revealed yet.

However, Levy gave fans a sneak peek into how the “bucket-list” offer landed in his lap in a recent conversation with Total Film Magazine [via GamesRadar].

"“Getting that call was a great day. I was in the edit room on All the Light We Cannot See, and I look at my phone, and it’s [Lucasfilm president] Kathy Kennedy. Thus began a conversation that led to her inviting me in to develop and make my Star Wars movie. I’m putting everything I have into it, because I love that world, and it is a privilege to get to join that galaxy.”"

Shawn Levy is credited as the writer, director, and producer of the upcoming Deadpool 3 movie starring Ryan Reynolds, with whom he has previously worked on Free Guy and The Adam Project.

Levy’s movie is yet to be officially announced by Lucasfilm. It was not among the three new movies unveiled at the 2023 Star Wars Celebration. Daisy Ridley will reprise her role of Rey in one of them, with the movie set after The Rise of Skywalker. The second project, by James Mangold, will explore the origins of the Force and the first-ever Jedi.

The third, and perhaps the most awaited one, will culminate the storylines of the different Disney+ shows and tie together Dave Filoni’s Mandoverse.

Ahsoka is currently airing on Disney+, where Sabine Wren and Hera Syndulla join the titular protagonist to pick up the story where Star Wars Rebels ended. The AcolyteAndor Season 2, and Skeleton Crew are also awaiting possible releases in 2024.
