The finale episode of Ahsoka is fast approaching, and some fans have began to notice the finale episode shares a unique date with its predecessor. Whether or not it was purposeful remains to be seen. Though, Lucasfilm has matched up important dates before, like with The Clone Wars ending on Star Wars Day, May 4, and The Bad Batch starting a year later on the next May 4.
Ahsoka‘s finale episode of Season 1 will air on Tuesday, October 3. Star Wars Rebels first aired on October 3, 2014.
Perhaps this was one of the reasons for Ahsoka‘s release date chance, moving it up to Tuesdays? It could simply be a coincidence, or it could be some synergy that Dave Filoni wanted for his series. Who knows.

It’s a fitting occurrence, though. From the beginning, Ahsoka was marketed as the long-awaited Star Wars Rebels Season 5 as the titular character, Sabine Wren, Hera Syndulla, and droid Profesor Huyang hunt for their long-lost friend Ezra Bridger. They also seek to prevent a war with the return of Grand Admiral Thrawn, who is thought to be the Heir to the Empire. The series has truly felt like a continuation of Star Wars Rebels under Dave Filoni’s guidance.
Star Wars Rebels will celebrate its 10-year anniversary next year, so October 3, 2024, may be a date to watch for possible special announcements. At the least, there will be celebratory posts on social media, though Disney might want to give some fanfare to the first Star Wars project under its umbrella.
Regardless, it’s a neat tie-in that Ahsoka‘s finale lines up with Star Wars Rebels‘ premiere date. Whether or not it was a conscious choice, it’s little things like that that make Star Wars fun.
